i-lab January Winter Break Immersion Trips
The Harvard innovation lab is pleased to be sponsoring two faculty led trips this January term – one to Silicon Valley and the other to New York City. Any current Harvard student may apply for consideration to either trip (see trip descriptions and application information for each trip below). Although each trip has a distinct emphasis, both trips are focused on students with an active interest in entrepreneurship and innovation. Both trips are offered during the same week in January, therefore, it is not possible for a Harvard student to be accepted and attend both trips.

The deadline to apply for either trip is 11:59PM on October 8, 2012. For a full description of each trip and application details, please click the appropriate button below.
Cultural Entrepreneurship in NYC
January 14-18, 2013
Join the Harvard i-lab for a faculty-led Winter Break trip to New York City. Our trip will focus on cultural entrepreneurship in NYC: new ventures in fashion, food, fine arts, performing arts, music, video entertainment, literary fiction, etc. We will explore how new ventures in the creative arts are launched, and how proximity to NYC's rich ecosystem of established companies, investors, and supporting organizations (e.g., universities, foundations, trade press, industry associations) influences the ventures' evolution.
Each morning during the trip, we will visit startups and other organizations and host speakers who'll help us understand cultural entrepreneurship and the NYC startup ecosystem. Each afternoon, student teams will do field and studio work on a small project related to their interests that we'll assign.
The program schedule is still evolving, but it is likely to include a visit to a university focused on fashion, design, and the arts; a workshop with the design consulting firm IDEO; several trips to startups’ offices; speakers who have helped build new ventures in the creative arts; a visit to an incubator; and opportunities to network with recent Harvard alumni and other young entrepreneurs interested in cultural entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurial Ventures in Silicon Valley
